Cure Courts: Awareness for Youth Mental Health
Cure Courts is an event created to bring awareness to the mental health of local youth.
We have professional athletes and mentors come speak about the importance of mental toughness and encourage these athletes to reach out to all of the resources in their community for help. This year we had recently inducted hall of famer Phil Dixon come and share his journey with the athletes to remind them that giving up should never be an option. Cmha Simcoe-County and their staff came and shared all that they do in our community for youth struggling to find a place to express themselves. As well as participate in a 5ON5 basketball game with Barrie Police Service and our local Shakletes (basketball mentors).
Our hope is that youth understand that they are not the only ones, that they are understood and we have community members and professionals here to help when needed.
Cure Courts: Awareness for Youth Mental Illness is a day all athletes from beginner to elite are celebrated for who they are and who they will be with the right team cheering for them.
Thank you to all of the supporters that made this day a success, see you all next year!
