The Shak's World Community Centre (SWCC) house league is the perfect opportunity for recreational and entry-level players to enjoy some non-competitive games and build their skills in a positive and supportive environment.
We are thrilled to announce the opening of our House League program at Shak's World Community Centre, which will run for 8 weeks from March 26, 2024 - May 18, 2024.
SWCC is much more than just a basketball league – it's a youth-led urban community development project that uses innovation, mentorship, and sport to tackle the underlying issues leading to youth addiction, homelessness, and mental health challenges.
At SWCC, our youth programming leads are all under the age of 29, so you can be sure that you're learning from peers who understand the challenges facing today's youth. We welcome young people from across Simcoe County between the ages of 7 and 17 to participate in a wide range of drop-in programs, including art, dance, yoga, chess, and 6-12-week basketball training programs. Our goal is to create a positive, inclusive, and diverse environment in the Downtown Core, where BIPOC youth can feel safe and supported.
By joining the SWCC house league, you'll not only improve your basketball skills but also contribute to a larger community effort to create positive change for youth. You'll be part of a team that values diversity, inclusion, and mentorship, and you'll have access to a safe space for important community conversations. So what are you waiting for? Join us today and start building a brighter future for yourself and your community.
